B) Write an obituary for Willy Loman, based upon his real life.
1886-1949: William Loman, 63, Died November 20, 1949. Willy decided to take his life this past week. Willy was born July 11, 1886 in New York City. William had one older brother named Ben. He worked for Howard Wagner as a salesman. Willy would travel to Boston every week to make sales and to represent Howard. Even if it meant to borrow money off of someone Willy always made sure that his bills were paid. His family always came first to Willy. Willy believed in the “American Dream”. To him it was a “well-liked” and “personally-attractive” man will become successful and acquire all the material comforts offered by post. William didn’t turn out this way so that’s why he wanted to make the better of his two sons, Biff and Happy Loman. He would push Biff and Happy for them to always to their best. That’s why William is hard on his sons. William worked as a salesman for 34 long hard years. Willy went to Howard and asked for a little raise so he could pay his insurance. Willy ended up getting fired instead. Everything went downhill from there for Willy. Biff didn’t have a job and Happy was an assistant buyer. All Willy wanted was for his boys to be successful unlike him. Biff was an outstanding Football player and he wanted him to do something with his life other than sitting around all day. The boys tried having a line together but there were other complications in the way. William Loman had a loving family at home, his wife Linda and two sons Biff Loman and Happy Loman. Rest in Peace William Loman. You will always be remembered. (Chelsea Flanders)
B) Local New York City resident William Loman took his life this past Saturday October 30, 1949. William was 63 years old and was born July 20, 1886. William is survived by a number of people including his wife Linda Loman and his two sons Happy and Biff Loman. Loman was a traveling salesman that never got as much recognition as others. He never made big sales and he never brought in more than 100 dollars a week (at his best). William’s family life was never the greatest either. He always had a problem with his temper and this made it very hard for his family to understand him. The one person who always stuck by William’s side was his wife Linda. Without Linda, William’s life would have been a massacre. He wouldn’t have been able to do his bills or even tell his jacket from his pants. William worked as hard as he could with hardly any reward till the end of his life. His funeral didn’t attract thousands like he wanted it to. It attracted only his close family and a few friends. Though he never did much to contribute to the growth of his business, he should at the least be acknowledged for his hard work. (RN)
A man who passed with many failed accomplishments, Willy Loman, who never really lived to the full expectations he wanted. He always wanted to be a salesman but killed himself at the age of 63. This was all because he was a fool and his pride seemed to over take everything else. He was only 17 when he dropped out of school to become a traveling salesman. When he was in Boston he was on his to a conference when he met his wife Linda. She was very thin and pretty. He had always told her that her eyes made her look like an angel. When they got married they were only 20 and they were expecting there first son, Biff. In just a few more years Happy was born and Willy couldn’t wait to raise his sons. This later turned into never being there much for them because he was never home and always on the road. He started forgetting important things as he got older and even started acting a little crazy. Linda his wife must have really been an angel because she always stuck by him until the end. She would defend him even when she knew he was wrong. The saddest part about her loyalty is he couldn’t say the same. He had cheated on his wife with some bimbo blonde and she didn’t even know until now. So this is it’ the life of Willy Loman. Never really did much with it, and started to fade away. By: Erika Brooks

Willy’s older son, Biff, had trouble holding a job and stealing things during working. He was supposed to get into the University of Virginia with scholarship as an outstanding athlete. But he fall the math final test in high school, and he gave up the chance to make up after he found his father had an affair in Boston; finally, he couldn’t get credit to graduate. Then his moved to the West. 15 years later, he returns home, his continual failure to get a job exasperated Willy. Happy, Willy’s younger son, who had a steady job as an assistant, but he was a womanizer. Also, he was not content with his more stable life, because he had never striven for any real measure of success. Willy was strongly believed in American Dream which indicated that after a life time hard work will lead to a richer and more successful life, but Willy didn’t achieve the self-realization eventually. He cannot grasp the true personal, emotional, spiritual understanding of himself. He suffered from hallucination. He couldn’t tell the things happened at present or in the past. He had an affair with a woman while on a sales trip in Boston which showed his betrayal of his soul and family. In 1949, he committed suicide in a car accident in order to get the 20 thousand dollars reparation from insurance company. But he didn’t receive any reparation. One week later, his wife, two sons, his friend Ben and Ben’s son went to his funeral. (Lisa Yang)
(Chen Xuan Suezy) Willy Loman died on his age of 63. He was born in 1886 in New York City and died in 1949. Willy had an American dream that people with talent could automatically become successful. But during most of his life time, he was struggle with his meagerly wages. He became a salesman and had been doing this for decades; but he never made any big deals and became the star salesman. As his bad performance on working, he also had a bad temper. Both of his sons didn’t like he yelling at their mother, Willy’s wife—Linda Loman. He didn’t do any big thing in all his life; the only thing which can be called “accomplishment” was he raised his two sons Happy and Biff. Willy put so much expectation on Biff that Biff was so supercilious and could hardly put himself in any position. As Willy getting older and older, his boss Howard wanted to fire him because he is too old to make sales. Willy begged him but Howard just kicked him out of the company he served for decades. Soon Willy felt so upset and often quarreled with his sons and wife. Charley, who was Willy’s only friend, gave Willy 50 dollars a week to pretend Willy earned this. Willy felt himself a dead dog to his family so he decided to suicide so that his family can get the insurance. So in a rainy evening, he drove out and never came back. But he didn’t get his insurance because he was suicide. In his obsequies, only few people attended and only few people really felt sad about him in this world.
William Loman, 63, died June 16, 1949 in New York City, due to a suicide car accident. Mr. Loman was born on April 24, 1886 in Albany, New York. He was the youngest of his older brother, Ben. Mr. Loman was a self-educated in business. In 1913 he married Linda Jones of Jersey City. In 1915, Willy started with a business firm as a salesman and spent 34 years there. He was then fired. He bought a house in Brooklyn, New York, in 1924. He was one 25 year mortgage payment away from owning his house before he died, but passed before he could provide the money. Mr. Loman was survived by his wife, Linda, and by two sons, Happy and Biff, both now in New York City. His boys failed to produce anything Willy could cherish before he died. Although Willy said he was well known by many, no one knew him outside of New York, nor did they like him. Willy never made a lot of money, but often boasted of large paychecks or good years that didn’t exist. He was not a very good salesman; Mr. Loman could not sell well, was not welcomed, and was fired a day before his death. He always thought if you were personally attractive and well liked that you could be successful. His motives brought his oldest son, Biff, to such fake standards that Biff never amounted anything. Biff could not take the pressure or criticism. As Biff grew older, Willy tried to instill what he wanted in life through his son; it did not work. Mr. Loman often lied to his family and friends about his job or life. He frequently had flashbacks and visions that took his mind out of reality. He regretted staying when his brother, Ben, left and became rich in Africa. As Willy’s career drew to its finish, he was put on commission for money and was then fired. In his last chance to give his family some money, he committed suicide. He had hoped the car accident wouldn’t look purposeful and the twenty thousand dollar life insurance check would be sent to his family. This plan failed, as did almost every other in his lifetime.

Willy Loman, 63, dead in 1949 because of a traffic accident. He was born in New York City in 1886. He had an elder brother, Ben, who went to Africa and earned millions of money there. His father left him when he was a little baby. He had two sons, Biff and Happy. His two sons both didn’t have satisfying careers because they didn’t work hard but only were well-liked. Willy’s loyal wife, Linda, always stood at the Willy’s side; she loved, comforted and helped Willy. Willy Loman was a salesman; he worked for his company for about 36 years. Unfortunately, he was fired by his young boss when he was 63. He put all his hope on his elder son, Biff. Biff was trying to borrow money from Bill Oliver, who he had worked for, to start a new enterprise. Willy went to his company to have a talk with his young Boss to let him work in New York City. Willy and his younger son, Happy, were very confident about Biff; nevertheless, Bill Oliver even ignored Biff and didn’t lend money to Biff. Biff was so angry and sad about this issue that he decided to break through the lies which he made to his families. Biff told Willy the truth of the result of borrowing money and how his life really was before he went back home; obviously, Willy felt that his only hope of life was broken, and his family don’t have any revenue any longer. He made a big decision, to sale himself. He made a suicidal traffic accident in order to get the twenty thousand dollar insurance for Biff to start new enterprise. However, his family didn’t get the insurance money because people found out that it was a suicide. At Willy’s funeral, there were only 5 people, which was the opposite of Willy’s dreaming funeral.
